Security Film Insurance Documentation (UL-972) for GTA Businesses

Insurance

A conversation worth having with your broker.

We install UL-972 rated security film with a lifetime warranty on interior installs and 10 years on exterior. The documentation pack your insurer already knows how to read is included on every job. Some commercial clients have reported premium reductions after putting that paperwork on their broker's desk.

01UL-972 and your policy

A certification your insurer already understands.

UL-972 is the Underwriters Laboratories standard for burglary-resistant glazing. It's the same language Canadian commercial insurers use when they evaluate security upgrades. When this certification is on your file, your broker doesn't have to explain what it is. They already know.

UL-972 rated film

Forced-entry resistant glazing tested and certified by Underwriters Laboratories. It’s the standard Canadian commercial insurers recognize by name.

Language your broker knows

UL-972 is the framework Canadian carriers like RSA, Aviva, and Northbridge use when they evaluate burglary-resistant glazing.

Full documentation provided

You get everything your broker needs in one package: install record, photos, and the film manufacturer's UL certificate.

Protection first

Any insurance saving is a bonus. The real value is the physical protection on your property.

02How it works with your broker

We install and document. You take it from there.

We handle the install and the paperwork. You share it with your broker. Your broker and underwriter decide what it means for your premium. We never need to speak to your insurer directly.

01

We install

UL-972 rated security film, installed to the manufacturer's anchored spec.

02

We document

You receive a written install report, photo records, and the film's UL-972 certificate.

03

You talk to your broker

Hand the documentation to your broker. They know what to do with it.

04

Your broker handles the rest

Your broker presents the file to your underwriter. Any premium adjustment is between you and them.

03What our clients have seen

Real reductions, reported by real clients.

Several of our commercial clients have reported premium reductions after presenting their UL-972 install documentation to their brokers. Burglary-resistant glazing is the kind of risk-mitigation improvement Canadian commercial underwriters factor into pricing.

Every insurer, policy, and property is different. A jeweller in a high-loss corridor and a suburban pharmacy will have very different conversations with their brokers. We can't predict what your underwriter will decide, but we can make sure you have the right paperwork in hand when you walk in.

Results vary. Premium reductions are not guaranteed and depend on your insurer, policy, and risk profile.

04What you receive

Everything your broker needs, in one package.

After every install, you walk away with four documents: UL-972 certification, photo records, a written install report, and warranty paperwork. Your broker gets a complete file with no gaps.

UL-972 Certificate

Product-level certification for your broker file.

Photo Documentation

Pre- and post-install photographs of every opening.

Install Report

Written report covering the install scope and methodology.

Warranty Paperwork

Manufacturer warranty documentation for the film.

05Common questions

What brokers and clients ask us.

What UL-972 certification is worth to an underwriter, what lands in your broker's inbox, and where an honest answer is that it depends on your carrier.

01

Will security film lower my insurance premium?

It might, and we will not promise that it will. Some of our commercial clients have seen premium reductions after handing their install documentation to their broker; others have seen no rate change but improved terms or a smoother renewal. It depends on the carrier, the policy, the class of business, and the underwriter. What we control is giving your broker a complete, credible file to work from.

02

What is UL-972 and why do underwriters care about it?

UL-972 is the Underwriters Laboratories standard for burglary-resisting glazing material. It matters because it is third-party verification rather than a manufacturer claim, which means an underwriter can put weight on it. Canadian carriers including RSA, Aviva, and Northbridge recognise burglary-resistant glazing as a risk-mitigation measure.

03

What exactly do you give my broker?

The install record listing every opening covered, the film specification, the manufacturer’s UL-972 certificate, and dated photographs of the completed work. That combination answers the questions an underwriter asks: what was installed, where, to what standard, and can it be verified.

04

Should I tell my insurer before or after the install?

After, with the documentation in hand. A risk-mitigation measure carries more weight as a completed and evidenced change than as a stated intention. If you are mid-renewal or currently in a dispute over coverage terms, tell your broker it is scheduled so it can be factored in, and send the file the moment it is done.

05

Does this help after a break-in as well as before?

Yes, in two ways. A documented burglary-resistant glazing upgrade supports your position on the file, and in incidents where the film held, the claim is often glass replacement rather than glass replacement plus stolen inventory plus business interruption. The size of the claim is usually what drives what happens to your rate at renewal.
